
Franicks Njoroge welcomes Equity challenge

Former Buccaneers skipper Franicks Njoroge has signed a new deal with Kenya Handball Federation (KHF) newbies Equity HC.
The lanky player says moving from a club that has been his home for close to five years has been informed by the urge to grow as a player and achieve more in the sport.
Joining a side that is under the tutelage of renowned handball tactician Peter Mwathi, Njoroge believes his move is a perfect opportunity to achieve his goals as a player.
"I would first like to sincerely thank Buccaneers for the opportunity to lead them for four years as the captain. We had a good squad and despite the challenges, as we struggled financially to cater for training and game expenses being a self-sponsored side, the achieved alot as a squad.
Finishing in seventh place in the 2020/21 season ans eighth in the 2022/23 season was quite an achievement keeping in mind what we had to overcome to get there. As I leave, I exit a proud player and believe with proper preparations they will be formidable opposition in my new assignment," Njoroge offered.

Mwathi's charges opened their season on Saturday 19 August with a win against Kimilili-based Rangers HC in a 39-26 outcome, Njoroge contributing three.
In their second match against National Youth Service (NYS) on Sunday, Njoroge's former teammate at Buccaneers Stower Radzi led the scoring with 10 with former Strathmore danger man Brian Murangiri adding nine to the tally for a convincing 49-21 victory against the Stephen Makuri-coached NYS. Njoroge scored four.
"Joining Equity gives me an opportunity to grow and push myself further as a player. It is also a new challenge having to play alongside players who have been my opponents for over five years. We are setting in well, having picked two wins so far. I hope we get to see the best in ourselves with this new group of talented handballers," he added.
